Adam und Eva, die Stammeltern aller Menschen, knien vor Jesus und warten auf ihre Erlösung. Der Paradiesapfel in der Hand Evas ist ein Symbol für die Ursünde, die bereits mit dem Engelsgruß (“Ave”) bei der Verkündigung und dem Eintritt Jesu in die Welt rückgängig gemacht worden war.
