Zu Jesu linker Seite wurde der verstockte Schächer gekreuzigt, er soll Jesus noch am Kreuz verspottet haben; er wurde später mit dem Namen Gesmas bezeichnet. Er wendet auf der Tafel den Blick vom verstorbenen Jesus ab.

On Jesus' left side a robber was crucified; he is said to have mocked Jesus on the cross; he was later called Gestas. On the panel he turns his gaze away from the dead Jesus. Both thieves are not nailed but braided on the cross (with smashed arms and legs); Jesus was prophecied: "His bones will not be broken" (Ps 43:20)
