The panel “Jesus and the High Priest” shows the arraignment of Jesus to the high council, which was the highest jewish instance of law. The gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke write about an assembly of multiple high priests. Therefore, this depiction seemingly refers to the gospel of John, where Jesus’ first questioning is done by the high priest Annas.
