Der hier im Hintergrund dargestellte Langspieß ist eine Waffe die zur Verteidigung eingesetzt wurde. Gegen eine Gruppe aus Spießgesellen konnte Kavallerie nur schwer anreiten. Im Gegensatz zum Speer wurde der Langspieß nicht als Wurfwaffe verwendet. Mehrere Langspieße sind als Teil der Stiftung Baumann im Dormitorium ausgestellt.

This pike shown in the background is a defensive weapon. A band of soldiers with pikes could hardly be fought against by cavalry. Contrary to a javelin a pike was not used as a throwing weapon. Multiple pikes are exhibited as part of the “Stiftung Bauman” in the dormitory.
