Um Jesus zu verspotten, wurde Ihm laut drei Evangelien ein Kranz aus Dornen zur Krönung aufgesetzt. Die Evangelien erwähnen nicht, aus welcher Pflanze die Krone geflochten wurde.

This Panel shows Jesus sitting on a simple socket. While being scorned and taunted he is coronated as the King of Jews with a crown of thorns. As a scepter he is given a cane from reed. With the aid of a long stick and a cudgel the crown is pressed firmly on the head of Jesus.
