Judas Ischariot war einer der zwölf Jünger von Jesus. Er hat laut der Evangelisten die Gefangennahme Jesus möglich gemacht. Im Lukasevangelium ist von Verrat die Rede (Lk 22,48). In der Hand hält Judas den Beutel mit den dreißig Silberstücken, die er für die Auslieferung von den Hohepriestern erhalten hat, der Strick um den Hals weist auf seinen späteren Selbstmord hin.

Judas Iscariot was one of the twelve disciples. According to the evangelists he enabled the arrest of Jesus. The Gospel of Luke calls this betrayal (Lk 22:48). Judas is holding the bag with thirty pieces of silver he got for handing over Jesus to the high priests. The rope around his neck hints at his upcoming suicide.
