Der Apostel Johannes. Nach dem Neuen Testament war Johannes der “Lieblingsjünger” Jesu. Er gilt als Autor des vierten Evangeliums, weswegen er auch oft mit einem Buch dargestellt wird (vgl. auch Tafel IX: Die Kreuzigung Christi).

John the Apostle. According to the New Testament John was the “favourite apostle” to Jesus. He is traditionally identified as the author of the Gospel of John. Because of this he often is shown with a book (compare to Panel IX: The Crucifixion of Christ).
